My best friend lived with me for a month!

With lockdown being eased more and more in Scotland the looming fear of returning to work began to become more of a reality. If you've read any of my other blogs over lockdown, then you'll be familiar with the fact that I moved back to my parents home for lockdown. Returning to work meant that I would have to get myself back to Aberdeen. This however for me although caused anxiety around normality which I hadn't had for around four months, felt like the right time as I had lived with my parents too long at this point and needed my own space.
As Joanna was isolating with her parents in Finland and Fiona still had commitments in her home town, it was beginning to look although I was going to have to live alone for the foreseeable future in my little student flat. Although I don't mind this for a few nights, with no end date set in place, seemed a bit much. This led to a discussion with John about the possibility of him moving in with me until Fiona returned. We agreed this would be possible provided we waited until phase two of lockdown so as him and my dad could be in the same car on the way up the road with them wearing masks.

When it comes to him I really can't complain I mean we got along like house on fire (we only bickered very occasionally), but I wanted to share with you what we got up to so as to still have fun, as I've noticed how repetitive days can get being in your student flat over lockdown with none of the pressure of university.
What we got up to:

We were actually so lucky with the weather when he was here, meaning that a lot of the days we took a walk to the beach (living in Aberdeen makes this so convenient as is only a twenty minute walk from campus) where we read our books, played in the waves and sunbathed. Although use suncream kids because the burn I got on my legs and back was not worth the clout.
Me and John are notoriously famous for our wine nights which rest be assured there was plenty of during his visit, making for plenty of dancing, music and gossip. I really just feel like all of these attributes are a must to do with your fiends at least a couple of times a month. We also found it good to play some games at the beginning of the night then go on to dancing a few glasses down if you catch my drift. The next point isn't a must but we found it to really add to the experience and that's getting dressed up, wearing something nice, a little bit of make up etc etc. Even although during social distancing many things haven't opened yet or if they have its a very different setting to before. Making ourselves look good really helped in making us feel good - its true what they say you know.

Okay, so disclaimer this one I wasn't amazing at and John definitely hd to take the lead. But over his stay we decided to cook and bake more which gave us fun activities to fill the day whilst also meaning we ate really good food - well for the most part. The best recipe we followed was cookies where we followed a recipe from one of his cookbooks and a close second was orange scones, which I have to admit we forgot to add the vanilla extract to so please remember to take more care following recipes than us, although they were still really amazing. I've also never been an amazing baker so I think this has helped me take more interest in this as a hobby.

Finally, John of course knows my uni friends pretty well, so as soon as we were allowed in each others houses we began building in time to visit some of them/ having them ver. I'm sure you'll agree that there has been no better feeling than being reunited with uni friends just now after having not seen them in so long. Maggie one of my best friends has just got herself a new little kitten (Pippin) who of course me and John fell completely in love with. We visited most of my uni friends who were here and John's boyfriend even came up for a visit which was lovely.
I honestly, do believe that even doing a couple of these a week either yourself or with flat mates/ uni friends will help divide your weeks up and help them appear less repetitive while we are slowly getting back to normality and waiting on uni restarting. But remember to keep safe and wear a mask my dudes.
