It's the Capital of Scotland, considered to have some of the oldest history, home of the biggest tourist attractions in the country and also makes for a scenic day out? I'm talking about Edinburgh of course, as it seems silly for me not to discuss this city considering for me its known as home.
Usually in my travel blogs I take you through all the best places to go as a tourist and although I always try to fit in as much cultural activities as possible at the end of the day I am still persuaded to spend far too much money on needless activities within that country so I can say that I have had "the full experience." However, I wanted to write this blog and share with you my favourite places in Edinburgh because chances are you have read enough blog posts about how you need to go to the castle and you need to climb Arthur's seat. Whilst I do recommend placing these on your itinerary I believe Edinburgh has so many hidden spots that I would just love to tell you about now.

Southpour:

Whilst this restaurant/ bar is located only a short walk from both Arthur's seat and the royal mile it is the perfect spot for a light lunch or evening drinks. I would also recommend the breakfast from here as in my experience as not yet been beaten by anywhere else. Southpour is very instagramable with their cosy set up including fairy lights, pillows and board games.

Maison De Moggy:
The next place which is an absolute must is Maison de Moggy which is Edinburgh's only cat cafe. Located in the Grass Market is is very convenient, however they do only accept reservations and is not on a walk in basis due to its popularity. Here you're able to enjoy some coffee and cake, whilst also playing with the cats. It's super fair to their cats as well as theres a room through the back that the cats can go to if they feel anxious of bored of silly humans. Overall, this is great for any animal lovers.

Winter Wonderland:
If you are about or around Edinburgh in the months November to January, you can't miss Edinburgh's famous winter wonderland and stalls. They serve the most amazing food (my personal favourite being the mac and cheese), fun rides and cute stalls. There is definitely something for everybody and you can easily lose track of time here and find yourself there for a few hours at least. If you long for adventure and crave adrenaline then the star flyer might be your cup of tea as it spins you around above Edinburgh's skyline, but if you're looking more to appreciate the view then the big wheel might be more up your street. Regardless, you'll be sure to find something for everybody.
My friends and I also enjoy the ice skating which is usually a main feature, however was absent this year so we can only hope that it will return fr Christmas 2020.
The Fringe:

The fringe is easily one of my favourite times in Edinburgh, everybody pulls together creatively, we discuss shows we've loved and cried at, theres comedy and tragedy. This is the one time a year that I can feel Edinburgh embraces the creativity around them from all cultures and backgrounds which I must say is a refreshing feeling in todays conservative society. In 2018, I was fortunate enough to see my favourite podcast duo, A gay and a non gay live which was hilarious and proved to be such a good night. I have also seen a number of different theatrical performances such as 'Glasgow Girls,' and many comedians which have broadened my knowledge of the current creative industries.
I would recommend everyone who is able to, to visit the fringe at least once as some of my favourite memories and inspirations have come from here over the years.
Here are only a few of my favourites from my beloved city, but please let me know if you would like to know more as there were simply too many too fit on this blog post!
